Hello,
my name is Zeuma ... it wasn't always Zeuma,
but my new parents picked this one, with
the help of my two big human brothers, for
me.
I
was abandoned in Omaha Nebraska in February
of this year...
|
I guess
my old owners thought that my sweet face would surely
get me a new home.... I don't understand why they
left me, and neither do my new
Mom & Dad, but they did.
I was found
by a very nice lady who took me into her shelter
with lots of other dogs and promised me a new,
good home, as soon as she found one. Beings as
I am a Kuvasz, a breed she is not familiar with,
she also promised me that my new parents would
have to know about my breed. She searched for
my old parents high and low, but they were not
found, or did not want to be found. She kept
me in her home... Yep, I'm that nice. she took
me to HER house. Somehow she located the Kuvasz
rescue site and let these nice people know I
was available for a new home. It took a little
while, all the time she loved me, brushed me,
cleaned me up, gave me
treats, I love treats, and generally took good care of me.
In May of
this year, my new parents had their hearts broken
when they lost their first Kuvasz, Zeus. My Mom
went on to the Internet that day and started
searching Kuvasz 'anything' until she found the
rescue site. She knew she and Dad wanted another
Kuvasz, and because of the way they lost my brother
had decided to help a Kuvasz in need. See, they
too, were
in need.
Their hearts
were broken and helping another Kuvasz would
help them heal,
too. They first were directed by the Georgia
Kuvasz rescue rep, Robin Miller, to another male
Kuvasz... His name was Spencer. Another lady
in Georgia that Robin knew, had also recently
lost her beloved Kuvasz, and had agreed to take
Spencer out of the shelter he was abandoned in,
and give him foster care until a new family could
be found for him. But, she fell madly in love
with him and kept him as her own.... Another
wonderful home for another needy Kuvasz!
Whew, it
was close there...... Then Robin told Mom of
a dog (That's Me !) that was found in Nebraska
in February and may still be available.....Guess
what? I was still hanging out with the nice lady
who saved my life, and still needed a place to
call my own. My Mom got in touch with the lady
in Nebraska and gosh, that seems so far away
now.... And after careful screening, and with
the help and assistance of another Kuvasz rescue
person in California, Gail Dash, who had initially
told Robin about me and was also trying very
hard to find me a new home, I became official,
I was going to New Jersey... Hey Wait a minute
what and where is New Jersey? And, they were
putting me on an airplane... Those noisy things
that help to muffle the sounds of the squirrels
I'm trying to hear! Help,an airplane ... they're
fast and BIG ... even bigger than me!
On May 21st
I was taken for a ride to the airport and gently
placed into a crate.... Never been in one of
these before. This forklift picked up my crate
and loaded me onto the airplane... The nice lady
cried and cried. She was sad to see me go, but
happy to know my Mom & Dad would be waiting
for me when I landed.
I landed
in Newark New Jersey ... gosh it's humid here!
Mom & Dad were there waiting with my new
human brother, Jason. Into a van I went and on
my way home.... Yes, I was going to have a place
to call HOME ! Hold it, these people seemed nice,
but what if they are not really nice.... I'll
have to keep checking them out for a while...
OK, we got to their house,I'm not quite ready
to call it home yet..... It will take some time.....They
have two other dogs, Cockers, little black ones,
well if these two survived it cannot be too bad,
but I'm still going to be cautious.
I have my
own table to eat from, Dad made it. Nice......
I have a big fenced yard to play in, OK.......
They have a big bag of dog food, better not let
them know I'll sneak into the bag when they aren't
looking........And they do give good ear rubs.
We'll see tomorrow.....
Mom is taking
me for my Canine Good Citizen test soon- Mom
tells me I'll get to have the letters CGC after
my name then. I want to make Mom proud and pass
this test.
They get
up and feed me nice and early and go out into
the yard to play with me and the other dogs...
So far so good........
And the story
goes on, these people were nice. and they really
do love me a lot. I have been here almost two
months now. We all took time getting used to
each other, They know to hide the big bag of
dog food from me....They even found out that
they need to hide the pigs ears (my favorite)
from me. And I know now that when they go out
and leave me home that they will come home. It
is my job to take care of the house, the yard
and my brother and sisters, (yep they have a
cat, too, I like cats) while they are away.
Whenever
Mom & Dad have company they tell me that
it's OK to have these people in the house. I'm
real good about that. Some of Mom & Dad's
friends even bring their dogs for me to play
with.... Those darn Cockers just won't play.
They think I'm too big and will hurt them....
Silly dogs.....
My Mom was
so thrilled with the things the people at Kuvasz
rescue did for me and them, she has volunteered
to work as a rescue rep. We, yes I help, too...
I sit right with Mom when she is working on the
computer, and try to find humans dogs to make
them as happy as Mom & Dad are. And we try
to find dogs, humans to make them as happy as
I am.... Now Mom & Dad are even going to
get me a Kuvasz brother or sister, to play with...
I cannot wait! This will be fun.
Any Kuvasz
that needs a good home, the rescue people make
sure it's a good home! Or any humans looking
to provide a good home ... please let the nice
people at Kuvasz rescue help you. There are some
of my Kuvasz brothers and sisters needing good
loving homes to protect and love.
Thank You
Kuvasz Rescue!
