Although I've had dogs my entire life, I got my
first Kuvasz in 1990. Like any other dog-addicted
person, my numbers soon grew, (at one point
having 14 Kuvasz). I was involved in my first
rescue in 1991 and became hooked. Since then I
have fostered 30+, and have been involved (one
way or another) in excess of 80 rescues. I have
bred only a few litters, and have done limited
showing. Mostly my Kuvasz (and other dogs) are
my family.
Currently my husband, Edwin, and I share our
home with 12 dogs (7 Kuvasz, 1 Bullmastiff,
1 Papillion, 1 Mini-Dachshund, 1 Leopard Cur and
1 'Salad-Bar' dog) living in a large pack. Of course
it requires we enforce our 'Alpha' at all times, but
we wouldn't want to live any other way. Of the 12
dogs, 7 are rescues or re-homes.
In the past, I served on the Boards of both KCA
and AKA, and as Training Council Chair for the
Lake County Kennel Club of Northern California
(a position I recently vacated in order to devote
my time to the KCA). I currently teach Basic
Agility and Family Dog 101 at my local kennel
club, but have also taught Basic Obedience and
Rally.
I welcome you to contact me regarding problems
and/or suggestions. But, I'm a firm believer in the
saying, "If you come with a problem, come with a
solution."

I have been involved
with the breed since 1997 and I joined the KCA
in 1999. I reside
in the State of New Jersey with my husband, Chip,
8 Kuvasz and 1 Great Pyrenees. Our home is a combination
of rescue and show dogs, neither takes more of our
hearts than the other. We adopted our first Kuvasz
in 1997, not having any idea what we were getting
into, and fell in love. We lost him at the tender
age of 2 years old to bloat (gastric torsion). Soon
after, we adopted Zeuma from Kuvasz Rescue. The love
of Zeuma steered us to become more involved, and
we became representatives for Kuvasz Rescue in the
Mid-Atlantic area. With great pride and love of a
breed we so highly regard, we continue fostering
dogs in need, mentoring owners, providing transportation,
and generally supporting the Kuvasz breed and its’ community
in any way we can.
In 2000 our house became home to
our first two show dogs. Nervous that we could
handle these babies
and represent the breed in all its’ glory
in the ring, we nonetheless set foot in the ring
and have finished two champions to date. We bred
one litter in 2003. Two of the puppies reside with
us and are casually showing in conformation working
toward their championships.
In addition to rescue I have served on the Auction
Committee for the 2001 Specialty and currently
house the Kuvasz Kollectibles from our home. The
Kuvasz Kollectibles are an inventory of items from
former Specialties that are for sale to the Kuvasz
public, and are a great way to bring additional
revenue to our club. My responsibilities are to
accept orders from the Club Treasurer, gather the
items and ship them to the purchasers.

I'm a broadcast
engineer, a profession I've practiced for something
over 40 years. I've been married for 35, we
had two children and one is still alive.
We've currently two Kuvaszok, Bela is 9 and Oz is 3. Oz is a pet who gets to
go to shows occasionally, Bela is a pet and pretty much of a homebody. We've
also a seven year old Border Collie, whom I threaten to teach Agility to one
day when Oz finishes. Our menagerie is rounded out with two rescue cats, a Domestic
Shorthair and a Maine Coon. I've been active in Kuvasz Rescue for seven years.
I'm also a member of the local all-breed club. I'm in my third term as Match
Secretary for that Club. I also belong to the AKA.
As well as showing Oz - a first for me which I'm enjoying immensely - I'm active
in several Kuvasz groups, both Club related and unrelated. I've recently been
active on a committee my County Commission formed, to suggest methods for reducing
our unwanted animal population locally.
I look forward to your suggestions and comments for our Club, and to working
towards their implementation.

I have owned and
loved this wondrous breed for about eight years and
have thoroughly enjoyed my time in the conformation
ring with three different Kuvasz champions. I truly
admire the beauty and many outstanding qualities of
the Kuvasz and I cannot imagine what life would be
like without a Kuvasz at my side and in my heart.
I got my start in pure bred dogs with Shiba Inus
about 20 years ago, finishing three dogs to their
championships and earning a CD on a fourth.
My main focus has been competing in conformation and
performance events, but I am also very interested in
health issues affecting the breed and how the Kuvasz
Club of America can help in regard to the health and
well-being of the Kuvasz in the years to come.
A member of the Kuvasz Club of America since 1999,
I'm also a member of the Jefferson County Kennel
Club of Missouri and am a past officer
(corresponding secretary) and board member of that
all breed dog club. I was also a founding member and
past officer of the Rare Breed Dog Club of St.
Louis.
On the professional side of the ledger, the bulk of
my career has been spent in public relations. A
graduate of the University of Kansas with a
bachelor's degree in journalism, I was a vice
president and director of public relations for a
variety of companies and was responsible for
developing relationships with editors and reporters
around the country to generate positive press
coverage for our clients.
I believe that my background in public
relations/communications, combined with my love of
Kuvasz, stand me in good stead to represent our
membership on the KCA board. I am level-headed,
"play well with others," am a firm believer in
listening to both sides of an issue before reaching
a decision or viewpoint and am eager to use these
skills and attributes for the best interests of our
noble breed.
Thank you for your consideration and support. In
return, I pledge to do my utmost to work together
with the KCA's officers, board members and
membership for the betterment of our breed and our
club.
