I have been training and showing dogs since 1984, Kuvasz since 1988
although dogs have been a part of my life since birth. My husband
Matthew and I were married in the summer of '96 and we have one
daughter. Matthew and I enjoy showing the dogs together and have
achieved performance titles, conformation titles, as well as group
placements in the US and Canada. I am very proud of our breeder-
owner handled Champions and top ranked specials under the kennel
name "Szep Tars," which means beautiful companion in Hungarian.
Active in the KCA since 2000 I have been a member of nominations
committees and national committees as well as the '02 fun match chair
and '04 national auction coordinator. I am currently a member of the
Judges Education committee and the statistics committee. I have a
deep passion for teaching and mentoring, whether it's first time
owners or judges looking for information about this amazing breed, or
simply someone to share in their passion.
Through the years I have tried to become a well rounded member of
the dog fancy by working in vet clinics, boarding kennels, groomers,
training facilities and for top breeders. This broad background along
with my degree in youth ministry helps me as I lead at both the club
and county levels of the Washington State 4-H dog program. I've
learned a lot through 4-H as a member and then leader. The 4-H motto
is "To make the best better." Watching as the youth learn and grow,
I've seen how much better we can make things if we are patient,
persistent, and passionate.
