I have been showing Kuvasz at AKC events since 1993 and have finished 33 champions and bred 23 champions. Competing in the venues of obedience, tracking, and agility, I have earned 38 performance titles. I am the only Kuvasz breeder to have titled Kuvasz in obedience, tracking, agility, and conformation. And I was the owner/trainer of the first Kuvasz and only Kuvasz bitch in history to earn the prestigious VCD1 award from the AKC. I also owned and exhibited the only Kuvasz in the history of the breed to win Best Veteran in Show at an AKC show. In 2006, I opened South Paws Boarding and Training Facility to help train Kuvasz and promote the versatility of the breed. Currently I have three generations of obedience titled Kuvasz, all breeder/owner handled.

As performance committee chairperson I want to see the Kuvasz Club of America continue to work to encourage more owners to train and exhibit their dogs in AKC events such as tracking, agility, obedience, canine good citizen, and weight pull. I think that the Rally venue offers our breed a fantastic opportunity to showcase our versatility. I welcome newcomers and novices to the breed. And I plan to implement a mentoring system to help newcomers/novices find support from knowledgeable, experienced people. This mentoring system will ideally transcend the performance arena and help with all facets of Kuvasz ownership including health issues and breeding. I want to see the Kuvasz Quarterly column offer spotlights on true working dogs as well as competition dogs and practical training tips to help with both everyday obstacles and more advanced situations. Our column will also continue to keep the membership abreast of AKC news. I also plan to see the performance committee work with the National Specialty chairperson to make obedience more of a focal point at these shows. Additionally, I believe that more awards and acknowledgements for those successfully competing in these events will encourage more interest, enthusiasm, and participation.
